Musculoskeletal or orthopedic physical therapy addresses acute injuries or chronic conditions that disrupt the anatomy or physiology of any of the following: bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments bursa, or cartilage. Different conditions that would fall into the realm of musculoskeletal PT would be: pain, inflammation, swelling, structural deformity, restricted joint movements, joint instability and muscle weakness or imbalance.
