TMJ Treatments
Physical therapy can address impairments within the TMJ joints. Common issues that occur in the TMJ joints include disc derangement, hypomobility, hypermobility and muscle tightness. Common symptoms that appear with TMJ disorders include: pain with biting/chewing, decreased mouth opening, clicking/popping and headaches. All these symptoms can be abolished with physical therapy treatments which include exercises, stretching, postural re-education, joint mobilizations, manual therapy including massage, and electrical stimulation.
